You’ll be billed out of contract rates for your electricity or gas if you have not agreed contract prices with us. Until you agree a contract with us or change supplier, deemed or variable business rates will apply as follows.
If you move to premises supplied by us, you’ll be charged our variable business rates (VBR).
You’ll also go onto our VBR if your contract with us ends and you have not sent us a termination notice or accepted the renewal prices offered.
VBR are not as competitively priced as our fixed term contracts, so more cost-effective options are likely to be available.
If your contract with us ends and you have sent us a termination notice, and not accepted the renewal prices offered, you’ll go onto our deemed rates.
Deemed rates are the least cost-effective way to buy your energy from us.
You’ll find more details and links to our current rates by clicking ‘Find out more’ in the boxes on the right.
We’ll place your business on our variable business rates (VBR) in the following situations:
Your contract with us has expired
You’ll go onto VBR if your fixed term contract comes to an end and you have not sent us a termination notice or agreed the renewal prices offered.
If you choose to change supplier, please give us 30 days’ written notice. If we don’t receive a termination notice and the new supplier attempts to register your supply, we reserve the right to object, which will delay your move.
Variable business rates offer the flexibility of short-term commitment, but are not as competitively priced as our fixed term contracts, so more cost-effective options are likely to be available. For our best prices, explore our electricity and gas contracts.

We’ll place your business on our deemed rates if you send us a termination notice for your current fixed term contract, and do not agree the renewal prices offered when the contract expires, but the supply remains with us beyond the contract end date.
Deemed rates will be charged until you agree a contract with us, or you move to another supplier. If you’re on our deemed rates and you choose to change supplier, there’s no need to give us notice.
